He is serves as the King's secretary and ensure everything goes accordingly. He is definitely a strait-laced person. Since the protagonist chosen him to be her guide, she have to undergo harsh training to learn about the culture and history of the country. That part was quite boring. However, as time pass, Ivan began to be more open-minded and willing to interact beyond boring matters. His ending is really unexpected... He is down with some illness and nearly 'die'.
